Icon in the making: Brittney Crush

"I just want to be an icon for younger girls to look up to and I want my music to be the voice for someone's story you know? I mean it sounds cliche but I just don't think it's fair that God blessed me with such a voice and I don't try and bless someone else with it. I have eight siblings all together so it's more than just music to me. I feel the need to speak to the youth because right now they really don't have any positive people to look up to. I'm not here to be an image of perfectionism or give you pageant answers, but I do want to promote realism. The real girl going through real life and real problems."

Brittney Melvin, better known as "Brittney Crush”, has a unique style of Classical and Jazz techniques with an innovative style of 90's and new school music. Brittney has been performing tremendously around the Tri-State area with even a notable performance in Puerto Rico and even opening up for Gloria Gaynor. Aside from acting, recording and performing, Brittney takes a lot of pride in being a role model for young adolescents. "My mom works for a non-profit organization where there are a lot of programs for adolescents to attend. I'm often asked to perform at their festivals or conferences and I can honestly say that the best feeling is when younger girls come up to me and tell me that they look up to me and that they want to be just like me. It just feels good. I never thought I would get that reaction and initially I was doing this music thing for myself but its nice to know you can inspire someone."
