We had the pleasure of speaking one on one with NYC star Xav A. highlighting his new single "Let It Be". Xav A. stands out from the crowd by his new school meets old school presence and retro fashion style. From previous records such as "Old Milk" and "All In" each song has a different feel yet stays true to his brand about authentic love. Read below to get to know this rising star more!

1.) AB: Hey Xav A! How has life been since your last single "Summer Song"?
Xav A- Everything has been great! I've been seeing a lot more love in NYC so it feels great to have so much local support for the vibes that I am trying to bring.
2.) AB: In your opinion what is so different about this phase of your music compared to your past few singles such as "Old Milk" and "Summer Song"?
Xav A- I think "Old Milk" and "Summer Song" felt more like fantasies to me. The "Old Milk" video is so crazy that is creates distance from the lyrics, and the "Summer Song" video is just meant to show fairy-tale love. But with "Let It Be" I didn't want any of the lines to get missed, so that influenced me to do a music video where I literally bring attention to every lyric directly! Self-love is such an important issue to me.
3.) AB: Our readers and your fans know you love fashion! Do you think this style will always be apart of your brand? If not, what trends do see yourself involving into?
Xav A- I think fun colors and cool styles will always be a part of my art! There will always be a visual component for musicians in the future, and I want to make sure people understand where my art is coming from. I can't imagine doing this type of music wearing all black!
4.) AB:What is the main message you want to get across on this particular single and video?
Xav A- I just want people to know that the things that you beat yourself up about are magnified so much more in your head than to other people. If you can learn to love yourself just as you are in this very moment, then you will just feel so much better!
5.) AB: The music video is very fun to watch! Did it take many takes to get it perfect?
Xav A- For the YouTube version we probably did 4 to 6 takes? The toughest part was trying not to look at the sheets of paper while my friend Katie passed them to me. That is a skill I never thought I would have to learn!
6.) AB: If you could have one artist remix this single who would it be and why?
Xav A- I would actually want it to be someone super soulful to bring out the emotion even further. So maybe Leon Bridges, or Amy Winehouse if she was still with us.
7.) AB: We heard you have a show coming up! Please let us know the details?
Xav A- Yes! My show is Thursday, August 15th at Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 1. It will be at 7pm, and it's free so I hope everyone can make it!
8.) AB: Our last question is we know you have been rocking the NYC scene and are excelling! Do you see yourself moving to another location anytime in the near future?
Xav A- I really want to take a trip to London and see how I feel about it--I just hear so many great things about London from musicians so I'd love to be a part of that energy!
